Q1. What Exactly Is ECAT?
ECAT stands for Engineering College Admission Test. This is a compulsory entrance test for the students who want to obtain an admission to any top engineering college or university.
Q2. Is There An Eligibility Criterion For Appearing In ECAT?
Yes, there is! The candidate should have passed the Intermediate Examination in the Science Group (HSSC/FSc), of Pre-engineering. The minimum passing marks should not be less than 60% i.e., 660 marks out of 1100 from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education of Pakistan.However, the pass out students of any foreign examination board (A’ Level, I.B., 12th Grade) can also appear in ECAT. The students should have studied the subjects of Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics in their Intermediate level.Other than this, the passed out students of DAE (Diploma of Associate Engineering) and B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology), too can apply for the ECAT test.
Q3. How To Get The Equivalent Certificate By A’ Level Students?
An equivalence certificate is required from the Inter-Board Committee of Chairman of Pakistan (IBCC), for the students who have passed A’ Level or 12th Grade. This acquired certificate should be equivalent to 60% passing marks of the Intermediate Science (HSSC/FSc) of Pakistan.
Q4. When Does The Admission Begin For The ECAT Test?
The admission for the ECAT test begins right after the end of the Intermediate exams in July 2020.

The candidates can apply online for ECAT on the official website of the UET or visit the University’s offices.
Q6. When Is The ECAT Conducted?
The ECAT is conducted by the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) and the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) during the months of August or September.

Q8. What Exactly Is The Syllabus Of The ECAT?
The syllabus of the ECAT will be from the basic textbooks of HSSC, FSc or equivalent examination textbooks. All the questions will be from the subjects of English, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. No question will be out of the above-mentioned syllabus.However, the syllabus for the subject of English varies from university to university, as the English syllabus of UET Lahore is different from the NUST ECAT pattern.
Q9. What Is The Test Pattern Or Format Of The ECAT?
All the ECAT questions will be in the Multiple Choice test pattern. There are 100 questions in this test. These questions will be in the following format:

Q10. How Much Time Is Allocated For ECAT?
A total of 100 minutes will be allowed for the ECAT test. Each correct question carries 4 marks.

The Children of the Overseas Pakistanis need to attach the following documents when applying for admission against seats that are reserved for foreign students:
An attested copy of the Resident Visa of the parent or guardian, of the candidate, by the Pakistani Embassy of that country Employment Certificate (on Form-VIII) issued by the Pakistani Embassy, of the parent or guardian residing in a foreign country.
