The Government College University (GCU) Lahore is one of the oldest and most honored educational institutions of Pakistan.

Government College was formed in 1864 and is located in Lahore. It was upgraded to the status of a university in 2002 when it was renamed as the GC University Lahore.

It has the rank of the highest graduation rate in Pakistan at 95.5% per year.

It is revered by high names of its many notable alumni including the national poet Allama Iqbal, Abdus Salam, Ashfaq Ahmed and the list goes on.

Time and time again, GCU has managed to stick out among the top and best academic institutes of Pakistan.

1. Admission at GCU Lahore

GCU offers admissions in Intermediate, Bachelor, Master and Doctoral levels.

There are about 32 academic departments at GCU.

  • You have to apply online at the official website of the GC University within the deadline.
  • After paying the admission application processing fee, you have to take out a printout of the admission form.
  • Submit the hard copy of the admission form along with all the required documents at GCU by hand or post.
  • Prepare and attempt the entry test.
  • Bring your parents/guardian along with you if you are called for the interview session.
  • Regularly check the GC University’s webpage for your name in the merit list or you can check it from the notice boards at the GC University premises.

2. GCU Admission on Reserved Seats

  • You have to submit an Affidavit if you are applying on the basis of:
    • Sport
    • Co-Curricular Activities:
      • Qirat/Naat
      • Drama
      • Debates
      • Scouting
  • “Special candidates” have to submit a Disability Certificate issued by the District Disability Board.
  • Hafiz-e-Quran students have to provide the corresponding certificate from a recognised Madrassa and they will be awarded an additional 20 marks for merit after an oral exam.
  • Foreign applicants should submit their admission forms through the Foreign Ministry of Education, Islamabad.
  • For students fitting to Minority groups, 1% of seats are reserved for them upon submission of the religious certificate.
  • Candidates belonging from other provinces than Punjab, have to submit their domicile and admission through pertained Provincial Governments.
  • The applicants from Azad Kashmir and Northern areas of Pakistan have to apply through the District Nomination Board of their area.
  • Candidates from FATA can send in their admission through the States and FR Division, Islamabad.
  • Those applying on the basis of kinship will be awarded an additional 3 marks for real siblings and 5 marks for parents’ grandparents.

3. GCU Eligibility Criteria:

To apply to GC University, you need to have a minimum of:

  • 60% marks in your Matric or O-Level examinations for Intermediate admission.
  • 50% marks in your Intermediate or A-Level examination with relevant subjects for Undergraduate program.
  • 2.5 out of 4.0 CGPA is required in the relevant Undergraduate degree for Postgraduate admission.
  • 45% marks in your SSC result for Fine Arts admission.
