The Air University was formed in 2002 in Islamabad. This is a public research university.

Air University has an independent department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering that has its separate building known as Institute of Avionics & Aeronautics (IAA).

The MS program of Aerospace Engineering is of 24 credit hours and 6 credit hours of thesis. There are two specialisation courses offered in the MS program:

Institute of Space Technology (IST) was formed by the Pakistan National Space Agency in 2002. This 73-acre university is a public sector university.

IST is affiliated with Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC), and Washington Accord (WA).

3. College of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE)

College of Aeronautical Engineering is affiliated with the National University of Science and Technology (NUST).

The Department of Aerospace Engineering was formed in 1965 at CAE. It offers Bachelor in Aerospace Engineering. This is a 44-year program having 8 semesters.
